Indian Institute of Yogic Science & Research, Orissa

The Indian Institute of Yogis Science and Research was established in the year 2008 and it came into existence with the objective of offering widespread yogic education in the state of Orissa and creation of opportunities for research in Yoga. The institute aims to be a national institution subsequently catering to the needs of India and abroad. The institute is approved by the Department of Culture of the Government of Orissa and it is affiliated to the Utkal University of Culture.

Courses offered:

Indian Institute of Yogic Science & Research offers the following:

• Master’s Degree in Yoga

• Teacher’s Training Course

• Personality Development course

• Therapy programmes

Some of the details regarding these courses offered by the institute are given below:

Master’s Degree in Yoga:

The duration of Master’s Degree course in Yoga offered by the Indian Institute of Yogic Science & Research is two years and the institute is approved by the Department of Culture of Government of Orissa and the Utkal University of Culture to admit 64 students per year for this course. For getting into this course, candidates must be graduates in any discipline from a recognized university and selection of students to this course is done based on interview and medical fitness test. The syllabus for this course will be in line with the syllabus prescribed by the Utkal University of Culture.

Teacher’s Training Course:

For this course, the institute has an approved intake capacity of 32 students and for getting into this course, candidates must have completed their class X examination. The duration of this course is one year and the fee collected by the institute is Rs.2500.

Personality Development course:

For this course, the institute has an approved intake capacity of 64 students. The duration of this course is one year and the fee collected by the institute is Rs.500. This course includes the following programmes:

• Asana

• Pranayama

• Mudra

• Bandha

• Kriya

• Yoga Nidra

• Meditation

• Mantra Chanting

• Spiritual Teaching

• Seminar

• Prayers

• Kirtan

In addition to these courses, the institute also offers the following therapy courses, which is open to all candidates and these are short-term courses:

Therapy Programmes:

Therapy courses are offered by the institute for the following health issues:

• Asthma

• Diabetes

• Arthritis & Rheumatism

• Backpain, sciatica & Spondylities

• Disestive Disorder

• Cold, Migrane & Headache

• Stress Management & General Health

The institute is approved with an intake capacity of 20 students per year for these courses and the course fee is Rs.1000 per therapy.

Facilities:

The campus of Indian Institute of Yogic Science & Research is provided with the facilities like canteen, internet, transportation, naturopathy/ayurveda dispensary, language lab, training centre, library and hostel.
