Staff Selection Commission was initially incorporated with the name of Subordinate Services Commission under Government of India. The commission was set up on July 1, 1976 and started functioning under the Department of Personnel & Training. The commissin actually came into existence for making recruitment on zonal basis for non technical Group C posts under the Central Government. The commission has also been allowed to make recruitment for Group B and Group C posts under the Cnetral Government. The commission comprises of a Chairman, a secretary cum Controller of Examinations and two other members.

Job Profile:

Staff Selection Commission is making recruitment of eligible Male and Female candidates on the posts of Constable (General Duty) in various states. The avacncies are available in Border Security Force, CISF, CRPF, Indo Tibetan Border Police, SSB and Rifleman in Assam Rifles. Candidates must ensure their eligibility for the post before applying in Staff Selection Commission.

Eligibility:

The age limit set for the posts of Constable (General Duty) is same for both Male and Female candidates. All interested candidates are strictly required to fulfill this age criteria i..e candidates should have age in between the age limit set for the post.

The minimum age limit set for the post is 18 years as on 1 August 2011.
The maximum age limit set for the post is 23 years as on 1 August 2011.

There may be age relaxation provided to the candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC/ST/OBC etc as per the rules of Government of India.

Educational Qualification:

Constable (General Duty - GD)- Male: Interested candidates must have passed 10th standard or Matriculation or High School or equivalent from a recognized board.

Constable (General Duty - GD)- Female: 10th standard or Matriculation or High School or equivalent from a recognized board is the minimum educational qualification required for the post. Interested candidates must possess this prescribed qualification for beling eligible for applying.

Constable (General Duty - GD)- Female: Total 2848 posts are available.

Pay Scale:

Constable (General Duty - GD)- Male: Rs. 5200-20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 2000.
Constable (General Duty - GD)- Female: Rs. 5200-20200 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 2000.

Application Fee:

Rs. 50 is the amount of application fee that is need to be submitted by the General and OBC candidates. No fee is to be paid by Women/Sc/ST/PH and Ex-Serviceman candidates. The application fee must be paid by the means of Central Recruitment Fee Stamps or SBI Challan or Online Payment through account with the State Bank of India.

How to apply: Candidates can apply through both online or offline mode as per their ease.

Offline Mode: Candidates must submit the application in the prescribed format on or before the last date for the reciept of application. The application must be sent to the concerned regional or sub regional office of the Commission under whose jurisdiction the centre selected. Application should reach on or before the last date i.e. 4 January 2012.

Online Mode: Candidates applying online should submit their online application at Staff Selection Commission website. Candidates must submit online from 3 December 2011 to 2 January 2012. No applications will be recieved after the last date for the Online application.
